A Chat with Emma of Style Splash
Get Blogged: Emma, your blog covers fashion, beauty, travel, interiors, and lifestyle. How did you get started, and how has your style evolved?
Emma: My main blog niche is fashion, although I also write about beauty, travel, interiors and general lifestyle topics. I’ve always loved clothes and shoes, and after I had my daughter 16 years ago, I decided I needed a style reset. Blogging was still quite new then, so I thought I’d give it a go. I didn’t have a clue what I was doing, but I had fun learning! It’s been great for looking back on how my style has evolved from more classic to maximalist. I’ve also made some wonderful friendships through blogging and Instagram.
Get Blogged: Many creators can relate to that journey; sometimes the best blogs start with curiosity and a willingness to learn. When it comes to collaborations, are there any that stand out for you?
Emma:
I’ve collaborated with Very.co.uk several times (via the Get Blogged platform), and it’s always a joy to work with the team. The briefs are clear, and the range of products to select for review is extensive, so I know there’ll be items that I truly love and can honestly recommend to my readers.

Away from Get Blogged, I recently worked with Sumissura on a made-to-measure suit review – what a treat that was! I love trouser suits for work, so getting to design one, down to the smallest detail, was a dream!
Get Blogged: It’s fantastic to see collaborations that are both enjoyable and genuinely relevant to your audience. Was there a partnership that felt especially meaningful?
Emma: I was surprised and delighted when IDENTITY LINGERIE invited me to collaborate with them not once, but twice. The company was founded by a couple from Ukraine with operations both in the UK and Ukraine. The team donate old stock fabric and leftovers to Ukrainian charities which produce linens and undergarments to be used in hospitals for the wounded, as well as military camouflage nets. I was so happy to be able to share the company’s values and ethics while supporting the people of Ukraine during an extremely difficult time. This collaboration wasn’t just about the products (which are amazing), but about using my blog to help raise awareness and show solidarity with Ukraine.
Get Blogged: That’s a wonderful example of how blogging can go beyond products and really make a difference. Sometimes, the human side of partnerships matters most. Have you had any experiences where brand support really stood out?
Emma: Back in the summer, I had a few collaborations in the pipeline when my mum died unexpectedly. Naturally, I didn’t feel like blogging and responding to emails, but a couple of brands really stood out for me in the way they responded to my request to postpone publishing reviews. The team at Pretty You London and Glowcept were amazing, checking in to see how I was and being incredibly patient and kind.
Get Blogged: That empathy and flexibility are so important in partnerships. For you, what makes a brand or product the right fit for your readers?
Emma: The product or service has to be something that my audience would genuinely love. I want to be able to recommend something wholeheartedly, so I choose brands very carefully. At the very least, I need to give an honest and thorough review, even if that means pointing out things that could be better.
Get Blogged: Authenticity and honesty are key. Audiences can always tell when a recommendation is sincere. What advice would you give to bloggers who want to work with brands but might feel hesitant to pitch themselves?
Emma: I would say keep pitching! For years, I was too scared to approach brands due to imposter syndrome, but once you get started, it becomes much easier. Having a consistent profile across social media platforms helps to be visible and recognisable. I like to have a good balance of organic content, where it’s just outfits that I’ve worn to work or group challenges that I take part in monthly, with a fun theme. Audiences don’t want to see only content that promotes brands; they want to get to know the blogger and form a connection. That’s how you build trust.
Get Blogged: That’s excellent advice. It’s so true that audiences want to connect with the person behind the content, not just see a stream of ads. Looking ahead, how do you see brand and creator partnerships evolving?
Emma: I think developing ongoing relationships between brands and creators will be an important factor in the future. In the past, some brands have chosen to work with lots of bloggers on a one-off basis, which may boost visibility but doesn’t necessarily lead to confidence in the product and brand loyalty. Building longstanding relationships means that bloggers and creators can really align with brands and share in-depth knowledge.
